It was a lovely sunny morning in the Rossendale valley as the Storms were set to play Huncoat. The Storms were one of three Haslingden GLFC teams playing that morning and started the proceedings with a respectful minutes silence to remember those who have fallen in conflicts across the world.
The Storms are growing in numbers and there was a full house for this week's game. The team comprised of Nicole Boustouller, Eva Brown, Gracie Millard, Olivia Newbitt, Daisy Holly, Hollie Spetchley, Emily Spetchley, Olivia Grey, Rose Whelan, Hettie Jarosz, Rosie Thompson, and Poppy Jones.
This was a great game between two good footballing teams. Both teams displayed great end-to-end play with good positioning, defending and attacking. Goals in the first half came from Newbitt and Jones. In the second half there were goals from Jones and Huncoat.
The final score didn't reflect the close game and the great display of defence from Huncoat. The Storms are certainly learning more in training and their positioning and spacing was strong. Well done girls and well done to Poppy Jones as player of the week and Olivia Newbitt as opposition player of the match.
